Symphytum Uplandicum - “Bocking 14”
Probably one of the most useful, beneficial plants you can grow that has one of the worst reputations of any plant!  Some people hate comfrey, because ‘it spreads everywhere’... In our 6 years of growing this plant, it has never spread unless disturbed.  If you like to rototill or plow your gardens, forget this plant.  Established as a component of a polyculture or support of other plants, it is simply exquisite.

Gorgeous, large, fuzzy green leaves continue to erupt all season from the root crown, and gentle nodding purple flowers pop up to provide nectar adored by bees.  Can be used as a medicine, or leaves chopped and composted to help your soil grow.  Excellent all around support plant and ‘dynamic accumulator’ with it’s massive deep, mining root system.  We can’t get enough of it at Edible Acres (but we don’t own a tiller!)
