Bare Root Plants for Sale
Thank you for your interest and happy growing!
PLEASE READ: If you are local or regional to the Finger Lakes area (able to pick up in person), feel free to reach out to hello@edibleacres.org with a clear wish list of plants as an alternative to ordering here and we will work to arrange a pickup.
We update our offerings on March 1st for Spring bare root sales and September 1st for Fall bare root sales. If you are visiting this page and see all plants as sold out, please make a note in your calendar to revisit at our next ‘opening’ and pick up some lovely plants!
Our Fall offerings tend to have higher numbers of trees, shrubs, cuttings and a medley of our abundant and Fall appropriate herbaceous perennials. Spring will generally have more herbaceous perennials and grasses, and a smaller number of trees and shrubs. We weight our inventory in large part based on seasonal appropriateness for establishment. We hope you understand and visit again if you don’t find the plants you are looking for this time.
If you are super eager to get plants now, we now have a Permaculture Nursery page that lists friends of ours with ethical and thoughtful growing practices. We strongly encourage you to check them out and get some awesome plants from them too!
Please be aware that some plants are considered ‘illegal’ in some states. It is possible that some of our plants are not allowed to be planted where you live. If you are in doubt, you can search the plant and your state and see if it they are prohibited or ‘illegal’ to plant and if so please don’t order them. Thanks.
TIP: Use the tags above to help filter our offerings by characteristic (ie. click on ‘fruit’ to find any fruit bearing plants we offer, etc.) As we add more and more it is a helpful way to find a plant to fit your goals…
Bundles Flash Sale!
Bundles Flash Sale!
After the fullness of nursery digging, sorting and sharing of our lovely trees and shrubs we are often left with an over abundance of plants hoping to find homes. When we have ample numbers of plant friends of certain types left, we love to make them into incredibly economical bundles to share with the world. This can be an inexpensive and accessible way to establish meaningful numbers of seed grown, resilient, productive and adaptive trees for yourself and future generations.
We offer this opportunity to you as economical bundles of organically grown super hardy food and medicine plants. We have individual plants during our normal Spring and Fall sales and these bundles are intended to move many plants while the window is still open! We can’t do custom requests or break apart packs during this deal, we hope you understand.

Photos can provide a clear sense of size and scale of plants. As time allows we add photos and details for various bundles we offer. We may not have them all here but equivalent sizes to other plants is a reasonable estimate. Please review photos for the plants you are getting so you know what to expect!
Ruler is 24” tall for reference. Many plants will be larger than depicted in photos, very few will be smaller.
Default packs are our ‘Grade A’ which are 1st year field grown or air prune box grown plants with nice robust tops and healthy/full root systems and generally fully ready for field planting, aka can be planted in their final forever home upon arrival…
‘Grade B’ are our nursery grade seedlings. These may have come in a little smaller than the rest due to crowding or have a ding on the top or roots or are multi stemmed, etc. This option is an excellent way to get beautiful plants that need one season of care in a garden bed to get to be wonderful and field ready plants in one year. Some of our ‘grade b’ packs offer 1st year trees that cost as little as you would pay for a seed for that plant! Economical and a great way to build relationship with these lovely friends!
- If you think you may wish to explore being a small scale nursery in your local area our grade b packs can offer a way to ramp up lovely plants that can be sold next year for profit or to subsidize your own planting.
